Our kids were SO excited when they found out that they could use iRead at home. Click the link below. Enter the student’s username and
password (both are the Student ID# - which they've used for iRead all year!) Please limit software usage to
20-minute sessions once per day, Monday-Friday. This is the recommended usage
based on program research. If your child has forgotten the student ID#, email your teacher.

Comcast is offering an internet essentials package FREE for 60 days.
Digital Learning Time
We would like to start by saying how much we will miss your sweet kiddos during this time away from school. We have worked very hard to plan activities that will be fun, but will provide meaningful learning experiences for your child.
According to Cobb County Schools, students in Kindergarten should work for one hour per day, Monday-Friday. Please don't work all day. You can always email us, but teachers will be at their computers available via email between 9:00-10:30am. You can click the teacher's name on the left of the screen to email any of us.

What a BUSY past two weeks!
Our media center staff set up an wonderful Read Across America celebration last week. Your kids looked like they had the most fun with their silly socks, twinning with friends, being wacky with crazy clothes and hair and finally in their book character dress up. We sure thank all of our guest readers. That was lovely way to end to a great week.
This week was super busy, too! The Hayes Foundation Boosterthon Fun Run was an incredible success! Thank you all, your families, and your friends for your amazing support. We just can't WAIT to get our new track and basketball rims/nets!

Math Songs
We are enjoying all of our new Kindergarten friends so much. We've been practicing all kinds of skills during our lessons. One big skill is counting to 100. During the first quarter, Kindergarteners should be able to count to 50, but by December, counting to 100 is the goal.
Here are some fun song videos that we're using in the classroom to help.

Opinions
Opinions...Kindergarteners have A LOT of them! We have started opinion writing. The kids will be writing their opinions about so many things. We started with two books: Duck...Rabbit and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. You can watch short videos of both books below. One big word we're using is BECAUSE. The kids have no trouble telling their opinions...but we want to know WHY they think that way.
In Duck...Rabbit, the kids had to tell if they thought the shape was a duck or rabbit and their reason.
In Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus, the Pigeon gave lots of reasons why he should drive the bus. The kids had to decide if he SHOULD drive the bus and why.
Ask your child his/her opinion about the books!
